Fatima Meets Kuriaki

Fatima Eiras is an underground icon from the “movida madrileña” in the nearly 90´s, she started to work in clubs as a go-go dancer and she finished working as the promoter of the two best clubs for house music in Madrid from 93 till 96 (Bocaccio, MidDay), after that period she started to work in the alternative magazine Neo2 while she formed different bands and did a lot of concerts in Madrid. Those were not electronic bands and she had the needing of doing electronic music, then in 2005, she met Kuriaki and at first they just thought to do just one song as a collaboration. But the chemistry and the results of that first song (Covenant) was so good that they both decide to create the band called Fatima meets Kuriaki.

Born in 1973, producer-programmer, Ander Kuriaki grew up listening to techno, rock and pop favorites such as Bowie, Massive Attack, Fleetwood Mac, E.L.O.

He learned programming, began his first tracks ten years ago, met Fatima via myspace, and was surprised with her voice, so decided to invent a soundtrack for a imaginary film,  Kuriaki's music weave textures taken from synthesizers, guitar, and drum machines into computer-generated sounds and sampled bits of other music.

Fatima meets Kuriaki forged a unique brand of diferents styles, including downtempo, IDM, dance music, combining infectious synthesized melodies with intelligent lyrics that have been described as filosophical and melancholic.

They first met in a recording studio they started to talk about the possibility of doing music together, a collaboration that would have nothing to do with their other projects.

Their aim was to create music almost like a film, with a cinematic mood. And that´s how their first e.p "Hi, stranger" has been grown.

Kuriaki works really precisely, every track is a mixture of many different experiments and tricks with the use of many different production techniques even in one track.

We are influenced by Ennio Morricone, Portishead, Massive Attack, Air, French pop and a large et cetera. Fatima is the voice melody composer, she adds a touch of sensuality and personality that gives to Fatima meets Kuriaki their distinctive style.
